An estimate nobody argues with

A document with your logo, sections and subtotals. The customer sees what they pay for and signs off before work starts.

Before

  • A calculation typed into a chat, while a competitor sent a PDF with a logo.
  • “Too expensive” was solved with a discount. “You never mentioned demolition” was solved with an argument.

Now

  • A PDF with your logo, sections and subtotals.
  • “Too expensive” is solved with scope: drop the underfloor heating in the hallway and the total drops with it.
  • Demolition is line 14, signed off before work starts.

Price it with the customer, not at home in the evening

The customer asks “so how much?” The estimate comes together from ready-made lines and the total shows right away.

Before

  • “I'll price it tonight and send it over.” By tonight the customer has found someone else.

Now

  • The total is on your phone while they're standing next to you.
  • The PDF reached them on WhatsApp before you were out of the building.

Not from a blank page, from a ready price list

No need to rebuild your rates: the price list is already filled in. You build an estimate by picking lines, not by recalling numbers.

Before

  • Rates in your head, in a notebook and in two spreadsheets with different prices.
  • Forgot the demolition and the ceiling height and priced yourself into a loss.

Now

  • 200 electrical jobs with prices already inside.
  • Extra charges for height and tight spaces are applied automatically.
  • Your own prices take one evening to set.

Every file at hand, not buried in 100 chats

Photos of the wiring before plastering, the floor plan, the contract and measurements live with the site, not in a gallery of a thousand pictures.

Before

  • A year later the customer asks where the cable runs and you scroll through your phone gallery.
  • The floor plan is somewhere in a WhatsApp chat.

Now

  • Open the site and the photos, plan and contract are right there.
  • Photograph the wall before plastering, file it with the site, forget about it.

Father and son on a Ferris wheel

Smetron was built for my father. With love.

My father worked as an electrician all his life and ran a small crew. I watched him quote jobs “by eye” or piece estimates together in Excel, simply because there was no convenient, affordable tool for a small team.

Big programs are expensive and often overloaded with features a tradesman and his crew don't need. So I built Smetron specifically for him: a simple, clear tool for planning work, pricing it and preparing estimates.

One tab holds all the jobs and prices. Another holds the work for a specific site. A few clicks and there's a finished PDF estimate you can send to the customer and work from with the whole crew.

Smetron isn't a heavyweight system for big business. It's a simple tool for tradesmen and small crews, built for real work.

Common questions

How much does it cost?

First estimate free, no card. Then $49 a month

Which devices can I use?

Phone (iPhone, Android) and computer (Mac, Windows), right in the browser, nothing to install. Estimates and sites are equally easy on both; reordering and restructuring the price list (drag and drop) works on a computer only.

What happens to my estimates if I stop paying?

Stop paying and your estimates, price list, customers, sites and files stay, and their PDFs still download. You just can't create new estimates.

Does it price materials and markup?

Not yet: estimates contain labour only. Materials, markup and kits are a separate future stage.

Can anyone but me see my prices and estimates?

No. Every record is tied to your account and no other user can access it.

Can it add VAT or sales tax?

Yes. The tax rate in an estimate is a free number: enter 20 % for VAT, or 0 if you don't charge tax.

How is it different from other tools?

Spreadsheets are free, but building estimates in them takes a lot of time and leaves room for mistakes. Professional estimating software can do almost everything and is priced accordingly.

Smetron takes a different approach. It has only what a tradesman or a small crew actually needs: a price list, extra charges and a finished PDF estimate for the customer. We deliberately didn't add features “just in case” and made the essentials as simple as possible.

You can learn Smetron in one evening, with no training, long manuals or needless complexity.
